[Report] LG Innotek's First CES Exhibition Pavilion... Together with Mobility Companies

CES2023 LG Innotek

[Report] LG Innotek's First CES Exhibition Pavilion... Together with Mobility Companies On the 4th (local time), the LG Innotek pre-booth tour held at LVCC West Hall in Las Vegas, USA.

[Asia Economy Las Vegas (USA) = Reporter Park Sun-mi] Not TVs, refrigerators, or air conditioners, but cars. LG Innotek's exhibition booth was located inside a newly built exhibition hall where cars were intermittently displayed, making one wonder if this was really an electronics and IT exhibition. Around it, companies engaged in mobility businesses such as Infineon, Amazon, and Mitsubishi Electric were busy finalizing their booths.

On the 4th (local time), a day before the opening of CES 2023, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, LG Innotek unveiled its exhibition booth, clearly signaling the company's strategy to focus its business on innovative technologies and products that will lead the digital transformation era, including autonomous driving and the metaverse. This is the first year LG Innotek has set up an open booth at CES, which runs for four days starting from the 5th. The booth was composed of four zones: the highlight 'Automotive Solution Zone,' the 'Camera Solution & Metaverse Zone' showcasing cutting-edge optical solution products, the 'PCB Zone,' and the 'Eco-friendly Power Solution Zone.'

The spotlight at CES 2023 is on the 'mobility' sector, including autonomous driving. Autonomous driving is a 'blue ocean' area where LG Innotek's core technologies?optical solutions, PCB materials, and electronic components?create powerful synergy effects. LG Innotek's decision to place its first open booth at CES 2023 in the West Hall, where mobility companies' booths are concentrated, and to feature the 'Automotive Solution Zone' as the booth's highlight, reflects this focus.

The 'Automotive Solution Zone' displays various electronic components from LG Innotek that will be responsible for the future of autonomous driving in the 'Level 5' era. Representative sensor products include advanced camera modules essential for recognizing driving situations, LiDAR modules that scan the vehicle's surroundings through 360-degree omnidirectional detection, and radar modules that detect the direction, speed, and distance of objects inside and outside the vehicle. In addition, next-generation electronic components featuring LG Innotek's innovative technology were showcased, such as short-range and long-range communication modules necessary for connecting cars to networks and transmitting various data collected inside and outside the vehicle to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Notably, at this CES, a 'sensor fusion' product combining camera modules and radar technology was introduced for the first time, enhancing sensing performance and driving stability under various adverse conditions such as bad weather, direct sunlight, and backlight, drawing attention.

LG Innotek, which maintains the global No. 1 position in the smartphone camera module market, also attracted attention with its 'Camera Solution & Metaverse Zone,' which showcased its optical technology well. The 'Optical Continuous Zoom Camera Module,' which won the 'CES 2023 Innovation Award' and was recognized for its outstanding technology, was unveiled for the first time. This module allows seamless switching between 4x to 9x zoom ranges with a single module, enabling clear photo and video shooting. Visitors could directly experience the principle of continuous optical zoom implemented by the actual lens moving inside the camera through a separately prepared smartphone-shaped model.
