According to Gwangju University on the 4th, President Kim held the "2023 Goshim Foundation Gwangju University New Year's Ceremony" that morning and made this announcement.

The event was held with about 300 faculty and staff, including President Kim Dongjin and Vice President Kim Gap-yong, and proceeded with an opening address, New Year's speech, rice cake cake cutting and toast, and lunch.

President Kim said, "I hope this year will be a prosperous and happy year where all things are accomplished, and that we will leap forward with a hop," adding, "Last year, we were selected for the third phase of the Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Leading University Development Project, obtained university institutional evaluation certification, and successfully completed various national projects."

He continued, "I hope the bright and lively energy that circulated on campus through the Daedongje Festival held for the first time in three years and the newly started Light Festival will also be abundant this year."

President Kim explained the kind of president he wants to be by telling a fable about the "Three Frogs" from the Talmud.

He said, "The first and second frogs gave up, but the third frog did not give up until the end and swam, and finally, when the milk turned into butter, it got out of the milk container," emphasizing, "Rather than repeatedly talking about the difficult internal and external situations, we will talk about the butter."

He also revealed plans to realize the vision of "an innovative university that grows together with the region by nurturing future talents."

President Kim pledged, "We will inherit the keyword of a university focused on employment and start-ups, continuously innovate, teach students how to enhance their own value, and become a university that advocates entrepreneurial spirit."

He also promised to renovate student convenience spaces emphasizing curriculum for nurturing future talents and regional win-win network innovation ▲ discover and pioneer new educational demands ▲ advance remote education and performance management systems ▲ enhance curriculum ▲ and improve treatment of members.

Meanwhile, the New Year's ceremony concluded with a rice cake cake cutting ceremony commemorating the New Year by President Kim Dongjin, Professor Lee Yonggyo, Chairman of the Faculty Council, and Son Yongwoo, Chairman of the Staff Friendship Association, followed by a lunch promoting the development and harmony of Gwangju University.
