[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Two members of the International Exchange Team at Silla University were recently recognized for their contributions to the stable settlement of international students in Korea, receiving the Minister of Education Commendation and the Busan Immigration Office Commissioner’s Award.

Yoon In-seok, a member of Silla University’s International Exchange Team, was selected as a ‘2022 Outstanding Contributor to the Attraction and Management of International Students’ and received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Commendation.

Since 2008, Yoon has worked in the International Exchange Team, contributing to the stable establishment of the Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (GKS), and systematically managing illegal stay rates, dropout rates, and academic support for international students, which helped Silla University be selected for the ‘Education Internationalization Competency Certification Program.’

Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he supported the entry and quarantine of international students wishing to study and helped create an online Korean language course, contributing to the establishment of a stable educational environment.

Jung Hee-yoon, another member of the International Exchange Team, was recognized for contributions to managing international students’ immigration, preventing mid-term dropout, and developing educational programs, and was selected as a ‘2022 Outstanding Contributor to Immigration Administrative Work by Related Agencies,’ receiving the Busan Immigration Office Commissioner’s Commendation.

Jung said, “I am grateful to receive such a great award even though I was just faithfully performing my duties,” and added, “In the future, I will do my best not only in managing international students but also in actively utilizing the Ministry of Justice’s upcoming regional specialized visa pilot project to support employment for Silla University’s international students.”
