Jeongeup-si Extends 'Agricultural Machinery Rental Fee Reduction' Until June

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 4th that it will extend the 50% discount benefit on agricultural machinery rental fees, which was scheduled to end at the end of last year, until the end of June.

The city had temporarily implemented a 50% discount on agricultural machinery rental fees from April 2020 to the end of December last year to alleviate labor shortages in rural areas and reduce farm management costs due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

However, to ease the management burden on farmers facing the difficult '3-high era' of high prices, high exchange rates, and high interest rates, it was decided to extend the 50% discount on agricultural machinery rental fees until June.

Accordingly, any local farmer wishing to rent agricultural machinery can receive rental fee discounts on all models (94 types, 1,615 units) held at the rental centers.

The rental fees by model are discounted by 50%, such as from 94,000 KRW to 47,000 KRW for agricultural excavators, from 56,000 KRW to 28,000 KRW for riding mowers, and from 13,000 KRW to 6,500 KRW for soybean threshers.

Since the start of the agricultural machinery rental fee discount in April 2020 until December 31 of last year, the rental performance reached 45,037 units, and the cumulative discount amount reached 482 million KRW, providing practical help in easing farmers' management burdens.

Farmers wishing to rent agricultural machinery can apply by visiting the nearest agricultural machinery rental center.

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "Farms that went through difficult times due to COVID-19 are once again facing economic difficulties due to the high oil price situation," adding, "We hope the extension of the 50% reduction in agricultural machinery rental fees will provide some support."

Meanwhile, according to the ordinance on the operation of agricultural machinery rental centers, the city operates rental centers in four regional zones including the main office.
