USGA Announces Major New Product Conformity List
Callaway's 'Paradigm' Series with Increased Carbon Content
Taylormade 'Stealth 2' Featuring Hosel System
Ahead of the first PGA Tour event of 2023, the United States Golf Association (USGA), which oversees golf rules worldwide, announced the conformity results for major new products. The new products added to the USGA list each year are often seen as indicators of golf equipment trends for that year. Here, we introduce the key new products set to make waves on the field this year.
Callaway ‘Paradigm’ Series
Among the products newly added to the USGA conformity list this year, Callaway’s Paradigm series stands out. The lineup includes Paradigm, Paradigm X, Paradigm Triple Diamond, Paradigm Triple Diamond S, and Paradigm Max Fast.
Although detailed information about the new products has not yet been released, the fact that all models are labeled ‘Forged Carbon’ suggests an increased carbon content compared to previous versions. The face of the clubs is engraved with ‘Forged TI.’ The existing Jailbreak and AI (artificial intelligence) design technologies remain applied.
The base model, Paradigm, features a sliding weight system at the back, allowing easy adjustment between draw and fade ball flights. This model is known to be suitable for golfers who previously used the Rogue ST or Rogue Max LS.
The positions of the weight screws have also been finely adjusted for each product. Paradigm X is presumed to have the weight screw at the back, while the advanced versions, Paradigm Triple Diamond and Triple Diamond S, appear to have the weight screws behind the front edge. According to photos released on the official website, the Paradigm Max Fast is characterized by the absence of both sliding weights and weight screws.
The fairway woods are similarly structured into three product lines: Paradigm, Paradigm X, and Paradigm Triple Diamond.
TaylorMade ‘Stealth 2’ Series
TaylorMade has introduced the enhanced Stealth 2 series. The lineup consists of Stealth 2, Stealth 2 Plus, and Stealth 2 HD. At the Sentry Tournament of Champions held on the 6th, players such as Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa (both from the United States) are expected to use the Stealth 2 driver.
The Stealth 2 driver features an adjustable hosel system on all models. Unlike before, all models now have weights attached to the back of the head. The Stealth 2 Plus version has a titanium structure and includes an additional 15g sliding weight at the bottom, allowing weight adjustment front to back. This enables easy tuning of draw and fade ball flights.
