150 Million KRW Delivered to Support Stable Settlement and Low-Income Independence

Over 87 Million KRW Donated from Imported Agricultural Product Sales Profits Since 2016

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang Agricultural Cooperative visited Pohang City Hall on the 3rd and delivered a donation of 15 million KRW to Pohang City to support the stable settlement of marriage immigrant women and multicultural families residing in the area, as well as the self-reliance of low-income groups.

Pohang Nonghyup Hanaro Mart mainly sells domestic agricultural products and also sells imported agricultural products for the convenience of local residents. This donation was raised from 50% of the profits from the sale of imported agricultural products, and since 2016, a total of about 87 million KRW has been donated.

Every year, the donation is used for the stable settlement of local multicultural families and the operation of integration programs for vulnerable groups and multicultural families.

Jang Changgyo, chairman of Pohang Nonghyup, promised, “We will take the lead in social change to live together by increasing understanding and acceptance of multiculturalism in our society, and continue to support multicultural families in the Pohang area so that they can settle well in the local community.”

Mayor Lee Kangdeok expressed gratitude, saying, “Every year, Pohang Nonghyup creates a social atmosphere of regional harmony, and I thank them for their warm interest and support with an open heart for coexistence and consideration. We will make further efforts to ensure that multicultural families and vulnerable groups are not marginalized.”
