Hong Taeyong, Mayor of Gimhae, Donates 1 Million Won Generously

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Hong Taeyong, mayor of Gimhae City, Gyeongnam, became the first Sharing Leader in the province in 2023.

According to the city, Mayor Hong donated 1 million won to the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea on the 3rd, joining the ranks of Sharing Leaders in the Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign.

The donation will be used through the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea to support medical expenses and living costs for low-income families.

The Sharing Leader is a nationwide sharing relay campaign and a group of individual donors operated by the Community Chest of Korea for 62 days from December 1 last year to the 31st of this year.

Anyone who donates more than 1 million won within a year can join, and the first in Gyeongnam was Governor Park Wansu, who donated in November last year, followed by Superintendent of Education Park Jonghun as the second.

Mayor Hong said, "With the new year, I joined as a Sharing Leader above all to help marginalized neighbors and the development of the local community," adding, "I will work harder to spread the culture of sharing and advance welfare."

Kang Gicheol, chairman of the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea, said, "Thank you for becoming the first Sharing Leader of the new year," and added, "I hope that the spirit of sharing for neighbors in need will continue steadily, following Mayor Hong's example."
