[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Ministry of Education and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 3rd that they will introduce the ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Excellence Institution Certification System’ to promote cooperation between universities and companies.
The Industry-Academia Cooperation Excellence Institution Certification System is a program that selects and certifies outstanding institutions among those that have accumulated performance points (mileage) through industry-academia cooperation activities such as university student field training, operation of industry-academia cooperation curricula, and technology transfer.
Institutions selected as excellent will receive various financial benefits such as reduced loan interest rates and discounts on various fees, as well as preferential benefits such as additional points when applying for government ministry projects. The certification is valid for two years from the date of selection.
To receive the Industry-Academia Cooperation Excellence Institution certification, applicants must complete the application form and submit it to the Industry-Academia Cooperation Mileage Certification Office by the 10th of next month.
Eligible applicants are institutions with industry-academia cooperation performance points (mileage) as of the application deadline, and evaluation will focus on the results and plans of industry-academia cooperation activities. Based on quantitative and qualitative evaluation results, the decision will be made through deliberation by the Industry-Academia Cooperation Operation Council, and the final selection results are scheduled to be announced in March.
Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, stated, “We will continue to organize policies and systems to revitalize industry-academia cooperation and actively reflect the voices of industry sites and universities in policies.”
