One-Third Acquires Sleep Data Technology Company 'Vytels' Sleep Sensor Mattress

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Sleep specialist brand Sambunuiil (CEO Jeon Ju-hoon) announced on the 3rd that it has acquired sleep data technology company Vytels (CEO Park Chan-yong) and incorporated it as a 100% subsidiary.

Founded in 2015, Vytels is a company that develops and sells sleep state measurement sensors, with corporations in Korea and the United States. Vytels' sleep measurement sensor, once installed under the bed, precisely measures tossing and turning during sleep, sleep duration, breaths per hour, and the number of snoring occurrences per hour, providing this data to smartphone app users.

Sambunuiil stated that it acquired Vytels to strengthen its technological competitiveness for entering the 'sleep tech' market. They explained that they focused not only on Vytels' sleep data measurement technology but also on their expertise in sleep apnea detection algorithms. Sambunuiil plans to apply Vytels' technology to its first sleep tech product, the 'Smart Mattress,' to be launched in the first quarter of this year. Through this, various sleep measurement data will be analyzed, and personalized sleep optimization temperature solutions will be provided to users.

Additionally, to enhance competitiveness in sleep tech, a new sleep research center will be established, and Vytels' CEO Park Chan-yong will be recruited as the center director. CEO Park, who founded Vytels in 2015 after serving as a senior researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), has also been an adjunct professor researching digital sleep therapeutics at Sungkyunkwan University since 2021.

Jeon Ju-hoon, CEO of Sambunuiil, said, "Vytels' sleep sensor helps users recognize their own sleep disorder issues," adding, "With the acquisition of Vytels, we will present a blueprint for the future sleep market."
