Controversy Over Car Wash Refusal at Self-Parking Lot
"Car Is Too Dirty... Go Somewhere Else"
Electric Cars and Expensive Foreign Vehicles Also Sometimes Refused
A story has sparked controversy after a person was refused use of a self-service car wash because their vehicle was deemed 'too dirty' to be washed.
Recently, a post titled "I went to wash my car but was refused service" was uploaded on the car-specialized online community 'BobaeDream'.
The author, Mr. A, claimed, "(Recently) it snowed and my vehicle got a bit dirty, so I parked at a self-service car wash, but the owner approached me and abruptly stopped me, saying 'You can't wash your car here'."
According to Mr. A, the owner of the car wash said, "Your car is too dirty and covered in a lot of mud, so don't wash it here," and added, "Go somewhere else, not our car wash."
Mr. A said, "I was stunned and speechless the moment I opened the door to get out," and added, "A car wash is a place to wash cars, so how can they say not to wash because the car is dirty? What kind of situation is this?"
He explained, "It's like going to a restaurant to eat but being told to leave because you look very hungry, or going to a bathhouse to bathe but being told to leave because it seems like you haven't scrubbed in a long time," and said, "It's so absurd and embarrassing."
Meanwhile, cases of refusal to wash cars at car washes are not uncommon.
Recently, as electric vehicles have become more widespread, there have been occasional reports of car washes refusing service because the vehicle is electric.
Some car washes also notify customers that they refuse to wash certain vehicles, such as those with non-folding side mirrors or expensive foreign cars.
