"Good People and Necessary People Are Different"
Distinction Between Industry Services Becomes Meaningless
Platform Efficiency as a Basic Premise
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Jung Young-chae, CEO of NH Investment & Securities, presented 'customer-centric' and 'platform efficiency' as the management keywords for this year.
In his 2023 New Year's address on the 2nd, CEO Jung stated, "Good people and necessary people are different," adding, "Let us strive together to become the people our customers need above all else this year and create a year of mutual support and cooperation."
CEO Jung said, "We are platform players in the capital market," and described it as "the most fundamental task of connecting supply and demand in the capital market."
He also pointed out, "Have we perhaps defined the scope of our services ourselves? We always pledge to provide total solutions to customers, but the meaning of 'total' may not always be the same between customers and us."
CEO Jung noted, "The barriers between industries and distinctions between services are becoming increasingly meaningless," emphasizing, "With customer consent, we can obtain all of their financial information, and many alternative investment options beyond traditional areas, such as virtual assets and NFTs, are becoming new choices for customers."
He continued, "As the world changes rapidly, the usefulness of our platform also steadily evolves. We must always keep our expertise about customers and insights into trends up to date."
To this end, he emphasized platform efficiency. CEO Jung stated, "Innovation can become a natural daily occurrence only when the old is reduced," and added, "Small efforts to meet customer needs and usefulness accumulate to become innovation and differentiation."
He reiterated, "For such efforts to be properly realized, platform efficiency must be a prerequisite," quoting Drucker, "The planned disposal of the old is the only way to proceed with the new."
As part of this, he recommended reviewing work practices. CEO Jung said, "Are there cases where meaningless practices or internal interests consume excessive resources or lead to surplus? Are successful experiences or achievements not internalized as processes but still dependent on individual capabilities and impromptu decisions? Are many tasks continuing out of inertia, or have we tailored customer experiences first according to our standards and convenience? We must continuously improve various issues to create an environment where daily innovation is possible."
