[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-seon] Daegu Urban Development Corporation achieved significant results in spreading ESG management through leading management innovation and active social contribution activities throughout 2022.
Daegu Urban Development Corporation’s A2 block apartment complex, planned to be built within the ‘Daegu Grand Park Development Project’ aimed at ‘eco-friendly development projects,’ was designed as a healing residential space living in harmony with nature by utilizing the geographical features surrounded by the park. On the 16th, it was selected as the Best Work (Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award) in the online public preference survey of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Design Competition.
Additionally, to ensure a safe residential environment for residents, the corporation promoted the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) project for public rental housing in collaboration with the Daegu Autonomous Police Committee, receiving a commendation from the National Police Agency Commissioner in October.
Furthermore, on the 16th, Daegu Urban Development Corporation signed a business agreement titled ‘Beautiful Journey with Daegu Urban Development Corporation’ with local welfare specialized organizations and social cooperatives, pledging to enhance social contribution activities for the safety and residential welfare improvement of vulnerable housing groups in the region.
In particular, through this agreement, Daegu Urban Development Corporation is expected to demonstrate its capabilities as a residential welfare hub institution by partnering with local welfare specialized organizations to address housing issues of vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots, such as youth aging out of protection and children suffering from housing poverty, and to promote various projects.
The corporation also took the lead in volunteer activities such as sharing briquettes and kimchi-making through the Cheongara Volunteer Group composed of executives and employees, striving to improve citizens’ living environments and enhance safety during the winter season.
To promote Daegu City’s future 50-year projects, the corporation allocated 15 billion KRW of business profits as dividends and achieved 97% rapid budget execution, doing its best to revitalize the local economy.
Recognizing these efforts in practicing ESG management, Daegu Urban Development Corporation was awarded the ‘Grand Prize’ at the ‘2022 ESG Awards’ hosted by the Korea Social Contribution Association on the 27th.
In 2023, the corporation plans to operate the Housing Welfare Center entrusted by Daegu City, promote projects for vulnerable housing groups, and provide enhanced residential welfare services such as care services for residents.
In preparation for the incorporation of Gunwi-gun into Daegu City, the corporation will expand various social contribution collaborative activities such as win-win sisterhood agreements and 1 company 1 village programs.
