The Intelligent Robot Innovation Shared University Project Group (Director Park Tae-joon), hosted by Hanyang University ERICA Campus, announced on the 29th that it held the "Intelligent Robot New Technology Idea Competition" for students participating in the "Innovation Shared University CO-Week Academy," which took place over four days starting from the 26th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

This competition was organized to discover innovative products/services or ideas utilizing advanced technology, attract the interest of talents such as advanced technology engineering students, and spread awareness of the Intelligent Robot Innovation Shared University Project.

The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea operate various courses in advanced fields by selecting excellent lectures from courses developed at innovation shared universities through the CO-Week Academy, and conduct various public lectures including special lectures by notable figures and employment/startup lectures.

During the CO-Week Academy period, the Intelligent Robot Innovation Shared University Project Group, together with the intelligent robot consortium universities, operated diverse programs such as △ new technology lectures in the intelligent robot field △ special lectures △ Doosan Robotics Day △ dialogues with senior companies and robot experts △ new technology idea competition △ Ratton competition, receiving great interest and response from students.

Students proposed various ideas in this competition, including robot hearts, wheelchairs that avoid obstacles, humanoid robots equipped with strong artificial intelligence, cars using the metaverse, and autonomous snow removal vehicles.

The award-winning works of the competition were △ Scarecrow Humanoid Robot (Jang Dong-jun, Kwangwoon University) △ Improvement plan for automation technology of aquatic food and classification technology using YOLOv7 (Kang Min-kyung, Pukyong National University) △ Guide Dog Robot (Shin Yoo-jin, Sangmyung University) △ Autonomous shopping cart robot for consumers in shopping malls and large marts (Lim Jae-hyung, Yeungjin College) △ Smart AI Carrier (Kwon Ki-won, Chosun University) △ AI Drone CCTV (Chae Min-geun, Korea Polytechnic University) △ Wearable Robot for the Visually Impaired (Kyun Chae-eun, Hanyang University ERICA). A scholarship of 300,000 KRW per person was also awarded to the total of seven selected students.

Director Park Tae-joon said, "This competition was a great opportunity to widely promote the advanced technology courses developed at the Intelligent Robot Innovation Shared University and the excellent lectures developed through the CO-Week Academy," adding, "We will review the novel and innovative ideas utilizing new technologies such as intelligent robots proposed by students and support their realization."

Meanwhile, the Intelligent Robot Innovation Shared University Project is a digital new technology talent cultivation innovation shared university project supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. It aims to eliminate educational gaps between regions and universities and establish a national-level core talent cultivation system in advanced fields. Hanyang University ERICA Campus is the lead university of the intelligent robot innovation shared university consortium, conducting the project for six years from 2021 to 2026 together with Kwangwoon University, Pukyong National University, Sangmyung University, Yeungjin College, Chosun University, and Korea Polytechnic University.
