SK Securities, First Single Securities Firm to Publish TCFD Report

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Securities announced on the 26th that it has published the 'Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Report,' becoming the first domestic securities firm to do so.

TCFD is an international consortium established in 2015 by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) at the request of the G20 countries to promote voluntary and consistent disclosure of climate-related information. It recommends that companies identify climate change-related risks and opportunities, incorporate them into risk management systems and strategies, and disclose the anticipated financial impacts externally.

Last month, SK Securities became the first domestic securities firm to obtain approval for its SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) greenhouse gas reduction goals. Additionally, as the first domestic securities firm, it plans to transparently disclose its detailed climate change response strategies to various stakeholders by publishing a standalone TCFD report.

The first report, which meets all 11 items across the four major areas recommended by TCFD, contains detailed information on SK Securities' strategies and current status for proactively managing and responding to climate change risks.
