Eunpyeong-gu, COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine Home Visits for Infection-Vulnerable Facilities in Winter

Winter COVID-19 Visit Vaccinations for Vulnerable Care Facilities... Over 3,400 Staff and Residents at Facilities Eligible for Second Dose Vaccination After 3 Months

Eunpyeong-gu, COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine Home Visits for Infection-Vulnerable Facilities in Winter Eunpyeong-gu has been conducting COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccinations through home visits for infection-vulnerable facilities since the 15th, in preparation for the winter season.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is launching a visiting vaccination campaign targeting infection-vulnerable facilities in preparation for the winter COVID-19 resurgence.

Since the 15th, the district has been administering the winter bivalent COVID-19 vaccine through on-site visits to facility workers and residents to prevent infections.

The vaccination targets approximately 3,415 residents and workers of infection-vulnerable facilities such as nursing homes, mental health facilities, homeless shelters, and facilities for the disabled, who have passed 3 months (90 days) after completing their second dose.

Infection-vulnerable facilities have a high risk of infection due to communal living, and many high-risk groups such as the elderly and those with underlying conditions face severe risks, making additional vaccination necessary to prevent infection.

The winter bivalent vaccine has been shown to provide 1.22 times higher infection prevention against the original virus, 1.75 times against BA.1, and 1.69 times against BA.4/BA.5 compared to existing vaccines, with a lower frequency of adverse reactions.

The visiting vaccination team, composed of doctors and nurses, directly visits infection-vulnerable facilities to administer the bivalent vaccine (Pfizer BA.1 vaccine) and monitor for adverse reactions.

Kim Si-wan, director of the Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center, stated, “As COVID-19 enters the winter resurgence phase, the period until the end of the year has been designated as the intensive vaccination period for the winter bivalent booster. We hope that the visiting vaccination will help prevent the spread of infection and reduce severe cases.”
