[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Joo-hee] Jang Ye-chan, chairman of the Youth Foundation and former head of the youth division of President Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign, warned former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok, who is scheduled to give a special lecture at Korea University on the 22nd, saying, "I hope he does not make foolish choices that confuse the party."

On the same day, Jang appeared on YTN Radio's "News King Park Ji-hoon" and responded to the question, "There are talks that former leader Lee might resume political activities," by saying, "The more he causes confusion within the party, the more he may receive temporary media attention, but it will erase any remaining potential or hope for politician Lee Jun-seok."

He continued, "In the current situation, while preparing for investigations related to himself, what he should say is a message of unity and show a different, harmonious image from the past," adding, "If he shows the same behavior we have seen from Lee Jun-seok over the past year, expectations will turn into disappointment." This implies that the situation where former leader Lee publicly criticized President Yoon and the party leadership during his tenure, causing division within the party, should not be repeated.

Jang also targeted former leader Lee by saying, "We do not engage in politics like some people who only use SNS (social networking services) and meet only their online fandom. We should not rely solely on that and think that only those who comment for me there represent public opinion."

After receiving a 'party membership suspension' disciplinary action from the party ethics committee over allegations including sexual bribery, former leader Lee had refrained from external activities but has recently reappeared in official settings. Some interpret this as a sign that he might soon resume political activities.

Former leader Lee is scheduled to give a special lecture at Korea University in the afternoon on the topic "Asking the Path of Conservatism." He also attended the book launch event of People Power Party lawmaker Heo Eun-ah on the 28th of last month.
