[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hyundai Engineering recently developed an in-house artist position and hired a total of nine disabled artists, currently exhibiting their works at the headquarters, the company announced on the 21st.
This initiative aims to support the artistic activities and independence of disabled artists while simultaneously improving the cultural life and work atmosphere for Hyundai Engineering employees.
Hyundai Engineering has established studios in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, for the artists' creative activities and provides necessary facilities and art supplies. The exhibition spaces are planned to gradually expand to on-site offices, model houses, and more.
A Hyundai Engineering official stated, "We are making company-wide efforts to create an environment where disabled employees can work and to develop various job roles. Currently, a total of 155 disabled employees are working with us, and Hyundai Engineering will continue to do its best for a society that progresses together."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering is actively working to create jobs and hire disabled individuals. In August this year, the company signed a business agreement with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled to promote employment of severely disabled persons and is striving to develop new job fields suitable for disabled individuals.
Starting with the hiring of artists with developmental disabilities, Hyundai Engineering plans to create various jobs in office support, design, safety monitoring, environmental cleaning, and more, aiming to hire dozens of additional disabled employees.
