Started Donating Since 2003
Practicing the Value of Sharing Through Annual Participation
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Hanwha Group announced on the 21st that it will donate 4 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea’s ‘Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign.’
The donation includes participation from major affiliates such as Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha TotalEnergies, Hanwha Life Insurance, and Hanwha General Insurance.
Hanwha Group has been participating in the Community Chest of Korea’s ‘Hope Sharing Campaign’ since 2003. The funds donated to the ‘Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign’ will be used to support basic living expenses for socially vulnerable groups, improve housing and educational environments, and support social welfare facilities.
Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon stated in his 70th anniversary founding speech last October that with a deep sense of responsibility befitting 70 years of history, Hanwha must take the lead in creating a bright future where everyone can live together, urging management activities that fulfill social responsibility. To this end, Hanwha Group is engaging in various activities to fulfill its corporate social responsibility.
Since 2011, Hanwha Group has renewed its ‘Happy Sunshine’ campaign, which supported solar power facilities in welfare facilities for 10 years, and expanded the ‘Clean School Making’ campaign nationwide to create environments where children can breathe safely. The Braille calendar, now in its 23rd year of production, has reached a cumulative circulation of 880,000 copies, the largest scale in Korea, including the 2023 calendar produced this year.
Affiliates such as Hanwha Techwin and Hanwha Total are supporting local communities with rice and kimchi for the year-end, while Hanwha General Insurance conducted a kimchi-sharing volunteer activity with new employees, delivering kimchi to 250 underprivileged households.
Meanwhile, the continuous social contribution activities of Hanwha Group affiliates have led to various awards. This month, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts’ estate division was highly evaluated in areas such as environmental management, social contribution promotion systems, and problem awareness, and was selected as a recognized company in the ‘2021 Local Community Contribution Recognition System’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. Hanwha Engineering & Construction’s Forena library creation project was selected as an excellent program in the 2021 Seoul Social Contribution Awards and received the Seoul Mayor’s Award.
In March, Hanwha Group donated 1 billion KRW each to the National Disaster Relief Association to support victims of the Uljin and Samcheok wildfires, and in August, for the heavy rains.
Hanwha Group will continue its social contribution activities based on Chairman Kim Seung-yeon’s ‘Together Far’ social contribution philosophy.
