[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 20th that the budget for next year has been finalized at approximately 769.7 billion won.
The 2023 budget approved by the Gochang County Council on the 16th consists of 754.7 billion won in the general account and 15.06644 billion won in the special account, totaling 769.77045 billion won, which is a 6.58% increase compared to the previous year's original budget (722.22928 billion won).
Along with this, the third supplementary budget for 2022 was also finalized at a scale of 866.9747 billion won.
The 2023 budget focuses on the 8th term elected administration's pledge projects and revitalizing the vibrant local economy.
In particular, in celebration of the "2023 Gochang World Heritage City Visit Year," the budget was allocated with an emphasis on expanding tourism infrastructure.
By sector, ▲General Public Administration (29.9 billion won) includes 3.5 billion won for the construction of Gochang-gun's second government building and 1.5 billion won for creating a cultural space in the southwestern region; ▲Public Order and Safety (19.4 billion won) includes 11.3 billion won for natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance projects and 1.5 billion won for small stream maintenance projects.
▲Education (6.3 billion won) includes 3.7 billion won for supporting free high school education and local talent projects, and 1 billion won for constructing a youth autonomy and arts future space; ▲Culture and Tourism (56.8 billion won) includes 6.2 billion won for library construction projects, 2.8 billion won for the Dalbit Noeul Yanggosaljae creation project, and 2.5 billion won for the Gochang County Art Museum construction project.
▲Agriculture, Forestry, Marine and Fisheries (189.9 billion won) includes 46 billion won for basic public direct payment projects, 6.64 billion won for supporting the public value of agriculture and rural areas, and 4 billion won for natural recreation forest creation projects; ▲Environment 78.1 billion won; ▲Social Welfare and Health 163.3 billion won; ▲Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises and Energy 17.4 billion won; and ▲Transportation and Logistics 32.9 billion won were each allocated.
Regarding the terminal urban regeneration innovation district project, 13.1 billion won was allocated for the purchase of terminal site land.
The county has allocated 1.8 billion won in next year's budget to break ground on the Sangha district flood and disaster living zone maintenance project, ensuring that the core projects of the 8th term elected administration will proceed without delay.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, "I thank the county council for their dedicated review of the budget proposal," and added, "With the first original budget finalized that presents a new vision for the development of Gochang under the 8th term administration, we will realize a vibrant Gochang where all residents are happy."
