Business Presentation and National Budget Proposal to Congressman Jeong Jeon-sik
Lee Sang-geun, Governor of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, explained the current public contest project to National Assembly member Jeong Jeom-sik along with the responsible officials.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has applied for two sites with a total project cost of 9.948 billion KRW in the ‘2023 Fisheries Village New Vitality Promotion Contest Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Fisheries Village New Vitality Promotion Project is a project reflected in the new government’s national agenda, aiming to invest a total of 3 trillion KRW over five years in 300 locations to improve the deteriorated fisheries village life and environment, expand fisheries village safety infrastructure, and create a foundation for new changes in fisheries villages.
The project sites applied for by Goseong-gun this time are Garyong and Hajungchon Port in Ha-il-myeon and Udupo Port in Donghae-myeon.
Earlier, on the 16th, County Governor Lee Sang-geun explained this contest project to National Assemblyman Jeong Jeom-sik, who visited Goseong-gun, along with the responsible officials, and requested national funding.
He emphasized that since these two areas, which are villages centered on fishing vessel fisheries and aquaculture, suffer damage every year from natural disasters such as typhoons, additional project investment is essential for disaster prevention projects to protect the property and lives of residents.
He also explained that they are planning a project that can maximize the value as a tourist destination by linking with Nampo Port, a national fishing port, and Haejigae Bridge, a famous spot in Goseong.
There is a plan to steadily expand tourism items and attractions to attract external tourists for the continuous development of Goseong.
The county governor said, “To develop Goseong, we must continuously discover advanced tourism elements. For this, active acquisition of national funding is essential. We will constantly strive to improve the quality of life and convenience of the residents.”
Assemblyman Jeong said, “I expect that Goseong-gun’s efforts will revitalize economic development and fisheries villages, leading to practical income improvement for residents and activation of fisheries village tourism.”
