Recognition for Contributions to Establishing a Fair Hiring Culture Free from Bias

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 18th that it was selected as an excellent institution at the '2022 Fair Recruitment Best Practices Competition Awards Ceremony' and received the Minister of Strategy and Finance Award.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea have been holding the 'Fair Recruitment Best Practices Competition' annually since 2016 to discover and spread best practices in fair recruitment in both the public and private sectors.
SBC operates a 'blind recruitment' process that excludes all bias factors such as age, academic background, and major throughout the entire recruitment process to lead job-centered hiring. This year, it actively improved the recruitment system based on two-way communication.
In addition, SBC revised recruitment-related regulations and institutionalized the selection procedures of interviewers to be job-centered to enhance evaluation validity. It also provided written test feedback reports containing analysis of strengths and weaknesses by test field and radial graphs to all applicants.
Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, said, "We hope that SBC’s best practices in fair recruitment will spread throughout the public and private sectors and serve as an opportunity to increase public trust," adding, "We will continue to actively collect job seekers’ opinions and continuously develop the recruitment system."
