Kyung Hee University Successfully Hosts '2022 Senior-Friendly Industry Networking (New Aging Platform)'

Kyung Hee University (Vice President Kim Woo-sik) announced on the 19th that it held the ‘2022 Age-Friendly Industry Networking’ event at the GS Tower in Seoul on the 12th.

The Age-Friendly Industry Networking is an event organized by Kyung Hee University to prepare for the new aging era. It facilitates information exchange, consulting, and joint research among companies and institutions targeting the age-friendly industry and elderly consumers. Since its inception in 2016, the event has expanded to include 350 companies over seven years. Notably, this year’s event was held in person for the first time in three years, rather than online.

Participating companies ranged from startups to small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, and large corporations. The sectors represented included digital healthcare, smart care, senior housing, age-friendly food, and AgeTech (age-friendly technology). Government support organizations such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency, and Seoul Digital Foundation also participated to share recent policy trends.

Sompo Holdings, a major Japanese insurance company that has invested in elderly care businesses, also participated and introduced successful strategies in the age-friendly industry and cases of applying AgeTech.

Kyung Hee University provided companies with an analysis of the 2023 age-friendly industry trends from the perspectives of elderly consumers, elderly care workers, and companies, utilizing proprietary research data collected by the Age-Friendly Convergence Research Center.

Kim Young-sun, director of the Kyung Hee University Age-Friendly Convergence Research Center and professor in the Department of Gerontology, emphasized “Age-friendly industry and AgeTech as future growth engines and sustainable ecosystem expansion strategies in a super-aged society,” adding that “the seven-year-long Age-Friendly Industry Networking has enhanced companies’ understanding of the age-friendly industry and promoted corporate growth.”

Meanwhile, based on the research achievements of the BK21 AgeTech-Service Education and Research Group, Kyung Hee University plans to expand programs such as the CareSkill-Up course, a capacity-building program for field experts currently in pilot operation, and the Scale-Up course, a corporate growth program through networking among companies.
