Didim365 Progressing Smoothly with Naver Cloud in the 'NIPA 2022 Core Industry Cloud Flagship Project'

The Ministry of Science and ICT, together with the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, has been promoting the ‘2022 Core Industry Cloud Flagship Project’ to develop and expand domestic Software as a Service (SaaS) since June this year.

SaaS (Software as a Service) is a method of providing software as a cloud-based service over the internet without installing it on the user's PC. Globally, the software usage paradigm is shifting from a purchase and installation model to a subscription-based cloud model. Although the importance of SaaS is increasing, the domestic software market still mainly relies on purchasing and building software, resulting in a shortage of SaaS offerings.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Science and ICT has selected core industries with high industrial impact through the flagship project and supported service companies to develop excellent SaaS by fostering cooperation between infrastructure companies and service companies in each sector, thereby enhancing domestic cloud competitiveness. This year, based on the achievements from previous projects, support is provided in five areas: digital work, digital health, intelligent logistics, smart manufacturing, and environment & energy.

Infrastructure companies support service companies by providing cloud infrastructure, development support tools, cloud technology support, consulting, marketing, and education to promote corporate growth. Service companies, in turn, receive support from infrastructure companies to ① convert existing on-premise software to SaaS, ② newly develop SaaS, and ③ advance SaaS (adding functions and improving marketability of existing SaaS), thereby promoting the expansion of SaaS usage in promising industrial sectors.

Naver Cloud, participating as a CSP in 2022 following 2021, recorded the highest satisfaction among domestic CSPs in a survey conducted after last year’s project ended. Moreover, the ‘Port-Logistics’ sector it managed was selected as an excellent project and received the Minister of Science and ICT Award, recognizing its capabilities and project execution as an infrastructure provider for this project. Notably, this year, Naver Cloud is the only domestic CSP to have won contracts in all five sectors, supplying cloud infrastructure optimized for SaaS development to a total of 52 companies.

Additionally, Naver Cloud provides education and consulting on technologies necessary for SaaS development, such as MSA (Microservice Architecture) and Kubernetes, through its SaaS N and Office Hour (1:1 customized consulting) programs for participating companies. It also offers various programs for co-growth, including SaaS service commercialization and investment linkage.

Didim365, a public cloud MSP specialized company, also participates as part of the consortium, supporting smooth project execution for service companies by providing stable cloud operations as well as technical support and consulting related to SaaS development.

Furthermore, Didim365 helps reduce the burden on each service company and allows them to focus on their own service development by supporting CSAP security certification consulting and service portals (portal, membership management, billing functions, etc.) through its own specialized SaaS transition service, ‘DidimSaaSMaker.’

Meanwhile, according to Gartner’s 2023 forecast, the global SaaS market is expected to grow to $190 billion, with a growth rate of 16.8% compared to the previous year. It is anticipated that this flagship project will achieve significant results in promoting the digital transformation of domestic service companies’ SaaS and securing their competitiveness.
