With the Heart of Lighting Even a Small Candle for Neighbors, Taking Action
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Shin Eun-joo, who runs the restaurant Tteuranchae Bapsang in Gokseong-eup, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is setting an example in the local community by sponsoring ‘Happiness Lunchboxes’ every week for single-person households facing difficult living conditions.
Every Wednesday, CEO Shin Eun-joo feels busy in her heart.
She has to prepare the Happiness Lunchboxes to be delivered to the Gokseong-eup Customized Welfare Team officials by 11 a.m.
Even though this has been a weekly routine for several years, she is always full of smiles when preparing the Happiness Lunchboxes.
The carefully prepared Happiness Lunchboxes are delivered to low-income single-person households through the Gokseong-eup Customized Welfare Team.
While delivering the lunchboxes, Gokseong-eup checks on the well-being of the residents and provides welfare counseling when necessary.
The Happiness Lunchbox sponsorship project has been ongoing for over four years since September 2018, following CEO Shin’s wish to contribute to a warm local community.
Initially, three households were supported, but now five households are supported every week.
CEO Shin Eun-joo said, “When I first started donating, I thought it was important to do it steadily rather than overexerting myself at once. I will continue to practice small acts that I can do with the mindset of lighting even a small candle for our neighbors.”
