The Ministry of Employment and Labor has launched an investigation into Daemyung Suan Co., Ltd. for potential violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 14th, at around 3:23 PM on the 12th, subcontractor worker A (52) lost his life after being crushed by an excavator at the new construction site of Punglim I-Won Apartments located in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk.
It was reported that Mr. A was performing site cleanup tasks such as waste collection when he was crushed by a reversing excavator.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor will examine whether the company's CEO fulfilled their obligations to ensure worker safety under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Industrial Safety and Health Act. The Daemyung Suan construction site involves a project amount exceeding 5 billion KRW, making it subject to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
The Ministry explained, "Immediately upon recognizing the accident, labor inspectors from the Daejeon Labor Office and Cheongju Branch Office rushed to the site, confirmed the accident details, and halted work to secure worker safety." They added, "We will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and strictly investigate any violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act."
