Pohang Gyeongju Airport Hosts Event Celebrating 70 Million Domestic Air Passengers Milestone Lee Gang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, Baek In-gyu, Chairman of the Pohang City Council, and Kim Ho-jin, Deputy Mayor of Gyeongju, are performing and taking commemorative photos at the event celebrating 70 million domestic air passengers held on the 13th at Pohang Gyeongju Airport.

On this day, Korea Airports Corporation delivered a message of gratitude to air passengers and related organizations to commemorate the first time in the 74-year history of civil aviation that domestic air passengers surpassed 70 million.


The event was held at ‘Pohang Gyeongju Airport,’ which was the first airport in the country to change its name in July this year, adding significance to fostering the revitalization of regional airports.

At this event, following the commemorative speech by Yoon Hyung-jung, President of Korea Airports Corporation, Mayor Lee Kang-deok, Chairman Baek In-gyu of the City Council, and Vice Mayor Kim Ho-jin of Gyeongju gave congratulatory remarks. To celebrate surpassing 70 million passengers, commemorative gifts were given to two passengers using Pohang Gyeongju Airport on the day, and plaques of appreciation were presented to Jin Air and the Korea Tourism Association Central Council.


Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang said, “I sincerely congratulate the achievement of 70 million domestic air passengers despite the COVID-19 crisis,” and added, “I ask for the continued interest and support of Korea Airports Corporation and various related organizations so that small and medium regional airports can continue to grow even after international flights return to normal.”
