Hampyeong-gun and Yeongsangang Project Team Join Hands to Secure Agricultural Water Supply Against Drought

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County and the Korea Rural Community Corporation Yeongsangang Project Team have joined hands to overcome the drought crisis.

According to the county on the 13th, to secure stable agricultural water amid prolonged drought, a business agreement was signed this morning in the county governor's office with the Korea Rural Community Corporation Yeongsangang Project Team.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Sang-ik, Governor of Hampyeong County, Kim Shinhwan, Head of the Korea Rural Community Corporation Yeongsangang Project Team, and related officials.

Through this agreement, both organizations promised to actively cooperate to ensure stable agricultural water supply within the Hampyeong County area of the Yeongsangang IV District Large-scale Agricultural Development Project (Section 5).

According to the agreement, the county will identify areas requiring agricultural water supply and request the corporation, while supporting all related costs such as electricity and labor expenses for water supply.

The corporation will actively cooperate upon receiving agricultural water supply requests from the county, inspect and maintain facilities such as water pipelines for smooth supply, and conduct on-site training on facility operation methods.

With this agreement, it is expected that stable agricultural water supply will be possible for approximately 2,199 hectares of farmland in Hampyeong, Sonbul, Singwang, Daedong, and Eomda by the next farming season.

Governor Lee Sang-ik said, “We will proactively respond to the drought crisis through close cooperation with related organizations such as the Rural Community Corporation so that farmers can farm without worrying about water.”
