Petroleum Management Service Accelerates Distribution of Eco-Friendly Biofuels

Petroleum Management Service Accelerates Distribution of Eco-Friendly Biofuels Cha Dong-hyung, Chairman of the Korea Petroleum Management Service

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Korea Petroleum Management Service announced on the 14th that it is promoting the establishment of a Biofuel Center (tentative name) as a communication channel between the government and industry to revitalize the domestic supply of eco-friendly biofuels.

This follows the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's announcement of the 'Plan to Expand Eco-friendly Biofuels' and the designation of the Petroleum Management Service as the general secretariat institution last month, along with the launch of the 'Eco-friendly Biofuel Activation Alliance.'

The Petroleum Management Service will serve as a communication channel between the government and industry during the review, selection, and implementation of tasks derived from the alliance to strengthen industry competitiveness through the introduction and utilization of new biofuels. It also plans to play roles in technical support for new biofuels (demonstration support, test beds, international cooperation, etc.), supply and expansion (pilot supply projects, development of quality standards, etc.), and integrated management of the renewable energy fuel blending obligation system.

Cha Dong-hyung, Chairman of the Korea Petroleum Management Service, said, "The government's plan to expand eco-friendly biofuels is a comprehensive measure to activate biofuels, and this year will be the first year of industry development. We will actively support related companies as well as demonstration research and quality management."
