Acquisition of ISO27001, the Highest Authority in the Information Field
Posco Chemical has obtained the ISO27001 certification for its information security management system, validating its information security capabilities to protect core technologies. [Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Posco Chemical announced on the 12th that it has officially received certification for its information security capabilities to protect core battery material technologies.
On the 9th, Posco Chemical held an ISO27001 Information Security Management System certification ceremony at the Posco Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, attended by Kim Juhyun, Head of Planning Support Division at Posco Chemical, and Lim Seunghwan, CEO of the certification body BSI Korea, among other officials.
ISO 27001 is an information security management system standard certification established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is the most prestigious international standard certification in the field of information security. It requires meeting 114 criteria across 14 areas including information security policy, asset management, and operational security.
Posco Chemical has established processes to protect information assets across production, research, and management to safeguard core technologies accumulated through its cathode and anode material businesses, and has built continuous operation and management capabilities. In particular, as a result of company-wide efforts to establish security and management systems for critical information, it passed the certification audit without any issues.
Battery materials are fiercely contested worldwide as countries compete to secure core technologies, increasing the importance of security. By obtaining international certification, Posco Chemical has been recognized for its global-level security capabilities, enabling smooth responses to requests from customers and partners while solidifying trust with internal and external stakeholders. Improvement in ESG management capability evaluations by major domestic and international rating agencies is also expected.
Since this year, Posco Chemical has been making multifaceted efforts for transparent and safe information use, including disclosing information on the information protection disclosure portal. Information protection disclosure is a system that publicly shares a company's related status to the public to ensure safe internet use by users and to activate related investments.
A representative from Posco Chemical’s Information Security Office stated, “We will strengthen management of core technologies domestically and internationally and establish a security system from an ESG perspective. We will actively invest in operational and information technology (IT/OT) security infrastructure.”
