Arizona Senator Sinema Leaves Democratic Party, Declares "I Will Become Independent"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kyrsten Sinema, U.S. Senator from Arizona, announced on the 9th that she is leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent.

U.S. media reported that Senator Sinema stated on Twitter, "I will be independent from Washington's broken partisan system," and "I have changed my affiliation to independent from Arizona."

Earlier, in the Georgia Senate election, Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock won, giving the Democrats 51 seats along with two pro-Democratic independents, making them the majority party in the Senate starting January next year.

U.S. media also reported that it is unknown whether Senator Sinema will participate in the party conventions alongside Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont). However, Senator Sinema has stated through the media that she will not hold a convention with the Republican Party.
