Gwangju Seo-gu Selected as 'Outstanding Local Government' in Regional Cultural Heritage Education Evaluation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 9th that it was selected as an excellent local government in the evaluation of the ‘2022 Regional Cultural Heritage Education Project’ hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration and received the Administrator Award of the Cultural Heritage Administration.

The Cultural Heritage Administration conducted evaluation monitoring on local governments operating programs selected for the regional cultural heritage education public contest project, and among 42 local governments nationwide, selected 8, including Seo-gu, as excellent institutions.

Since March until last month, Seo-gu, together with the Education Culture Network Donghaeng, promoted a regional cultural heritage utilization project program under the theme ‘Seo-gu Cultural Heritage First Step, Righteousness and Sharing.’

The educational programs utilizing regional cultural heritage owned by Seo-gu, such as Haksan Temple and Park Ho-ryeon’s Si-hye Bulmang Monument, provided cultural heritage experience opportunities to elementary school students and local children’s center students in the district, receiving great responses from residents.

Seo-gu plans to actively promote projects selected by the Cultural Heritage Administration’s public contest next year, including the vivid cultural heritage program utilizing regional cultural heritage.

A Seo-gu official said, “We will continue to spare no active support to protect and promote precious cultural heritage,” and added, “We will continue to discover various cultural heritage education programs.”
