[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Kim Jang-ho) held the 2022 Saemaeul Environmental Preservation Contest on the 8th at the large parking lot of Geumosan Mountain.
About 300 Saemaeul leaders participated in this event hosted by the Gumi Saemaeul Association.
At the Environmental Preservation Contest, a carbon zero neutrality performance was held to protect the green earth, raising citizens' awareness of environmental protection and providing an opportunity for Saemaeul leaders to make resolutions and commitments.
Participants threw EM mud balls, which remove pollutants deposited on the riverbed and are effective in improving water quality and eliminating odors, into the Geumosan reservoir.
In addition, environmental booths were operated, including the installation of ice pack collection boxes, making products using sock yarn, and planting lucky bamboo in recycled PET bottles.
The Gumi Saemaeul Association also supports Saemaeul environmental cleanup supplies to each eup, myeon, and dong along with the environmental preservation event.
Oh Young-hwan, president of the Gumi Saemaeul Association, said, "Through the environmental preservation movement, we will actively respond to environmental pollution and practice love for our neighbors."
Kim Yong-bo, director of the Gumi City Administration and Safety Bureau, said, "We will actively support the environmental preservation activities of Saemaeul leaders and work together to protect the global environment and realize a symbiotic community so that citizens can maintain a healthy life."
The Gumi Saemaeul Association is carrying out 3R activities?Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce?to achieve carbon neutrality. They lead resource recycling collection, Saemaeul thrift flea markets, clothing collection boxes operation, Saemaeul large-scale cleaning, and Saemaeul purification activities.
