Hyundai Motor-OECD International Transport Forum, MOU for Joining Corporate Cooperation Council

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Company is strengthening its role as a leading future mobility company by partnering with the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

On the 9th, Hyundai Motor announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for participation as a member of the Corporate Partnership Board (CPB) at its headquarters in Yangjae-dong, with key officials including Kim Dong-wook, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Kim Young-tae, Secretary-General of the OECD International Transport Forum, in attendance.

The OECD International Transport Forum is an international organization that sets global agendas and leads discussions on various fields including transport policies for land, air, and maritime transport, as well as energy, urban development, and the environment. A total of 64 countries, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, are members.

The Corporate Partnership Board, operated by the OECD International Transport Forum to strengthen cooperation with private companies, includes over 30 companies worldwide that conduct various joint research and collaborations on transport policy at a global level.

Under this agreement, Hyundai Motor will participate in various global events hosted by the OECD International Transport Forum over the next three years, including the Transport Ministers' Meeting and the ITF CPB WEEK. It will build close cooperative relationships with member countries of the OECD International Transport Forum and Corporate Partnership Board member companies, and also discover cooperation models for verifying new future mobility technologies and new businesses.

Additionally, Hyundai Motor will actively participate in global policy discussions and research projects in various future mobility fields such as autonomous driving and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). It will also seek joint response measures for sustainable growth, including achieving carbon neutrality and establishing a hydrogen economy foundation.

Kim Dong-wook, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, said, “Through collaboration with the OECD International Transport Forum, a global transport council representing the entire transport sector internationally, we will provide innovative mobility experiences to customers beyond being just an automobile manufacturer. We expect Hyundai Motor’s status, which is leading the creation of a sustainable future, to be further strengthened.”

Kim Young-tae, Secretary-General of the OECD International Transport Forum, said, “It is an honor to welcome Hyundai Motor as a member of the Corporate Partnership Board as it advances as a mobility solutions company. This collaboration for better transport will be a valuable asset to the OECD International Transport Forum.”
