"Son Heung-min's performance in the Portugal match under close watch"
Son Heung-min (30, Tottenham) has once again been linked with a transfer to Spain's Real Madrid. Real Madrid, along with Barcelona, is considered one of the top clubs in La Liga. Real Madrid holds the record for the most UEFA Champions League titles (14). It is also the team where Cristiano Ronaldo, whom the South Korean national team faced in the Portugal match, once played.
On the 8th (Korean time), the UK media outlet Sports Mole reported, "Real Madrid is showing interest in signing Son Heung-min," adding, "The assist Son made to Hwang Hee-chan (26, Wolverhampton) for the winning goal against Portugal in the Qatar World Cup seems to have caught the European champion's attention."
On the 3rd, at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, during the final Group H match of the 2022 Qatar World Cup against Portugal, Son Heung-min made a sharp pass following an explosive dribble breakthrough in stoppage time of the second half, assisting Hwang Hee-chan's goal. It was a valuable goal that led the South Korean national team to the Round of 16 in the World Cup for the first time in 12 years. Son's pass in the Portugal match was also selected as the best assist of the group stage in this World Cup.
Sports Mole reported, "Last season, Son Heung-min played 45 matches for Tottenham, scoring an impressive 24 goals and providing 10 assists," adding, "This season, he has scored 5 goals and made 2 assists in 19 matches before representing South Korea in the World Cup. His contract with Tottenham runs until June 2025."
"If he were a Brazil national team player, he would have scored 7 goals"
Gabriel Agbonlahor, a former Premier League striker, also highly praised Son Heung-min's fighting spirit despite injury in the Qatar World Cup. In an interview with UK Football Insider, Agbonlahor said, "Son Heung-min had a fracture around his eye. We must remember that he played wearing a mask that could have affected his performance," adding, "Son did not play for a top team, but his performance was good."
He continued, "If Son Heung-min had played for the Brazil national team, he would have scored 7 goals by now," and added, "Son will always perform well. He will start scoring goals right after joining Tottenham."

The possibility of Son Heung-min's transfer to Real Madrid is considered low. Local forecasts suggest that Tottenham is unlikely to allow the transfer of their key striker Son Heung-min.
According to the global transfer market site Transfermarkt, Son Heung-min's market value reached 70 million euros (approximately 97.2 billion KRW) as of November 2022. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known for not selling players easily, so negotiations with Real Madrid are expected to be difficult.
The UK media outlet Evening Standard reported, "Real Madrid has identified Son Heung-min as a potential option to strengthen their forward line," but added, "However, Tottenham is unlikely to accept any transfer offers for Son Heung-min."
This is not the first time Son Heung-min has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. In October, Germany's Sport1 reported, "It is now time for Son Heung-min to decide whether to add a championship title to his career. Coach Carlo Ancelotti (63, Italy) is keeping an eye on Son Heung-min." Last January, the Spanish media Marca also raised rumors of Real Madrid's interest in signing Son Heung-min.
