Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam formed the 'Changwon Economic Council' with the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and local business representatives.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam formed the ‘Changwon Economic Council’ consisting of executives from various sectors of Changwon City and local business representatives such as chairpersons of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce subcommittees. On the afternoon of the 8th, they held the first meeting to discuss economic issues in the main conference room of Changwon City Hall.
The Changwon Economic Council serves as a regular communication platform to discuss economic issues and listen to voices from the field. It is composed of heads of departments and bureaus of Changwon City, labor-management and defense industry nuclear power special advisors, chairpersons of each subcommittee of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce, presidents of business organizations, and representatives of major companies in Changwon.
At this first meeting after its formation, time was allocated to explain the operation and details of the Changwon Economic Council, followed by an open discussion on cooperative projects proposed by the Changwon Chamber of Commerce.
The Changwon Chamber of Commerce proposed ▲ the K-Defense Festival ▲ strengthening the environment to make the city more livable for youth ▲ jointly building a platform to resolve corporate difficulties and regulations ▲ jointly promoting exchanges and sister city relationships with overseas cities. Various opinions from attendees were presented on each proposal, and the city decided to comprehensively consider all opinions and reflect them in city administration.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “The Changwon Economic Council is meaningful in that it has created a regular communication channel with the representative economic sectors of Changwon. Since it is composed of organizations and representatives from various economic fields, I hope to hear comprehensive and practical voices of companies, and Changwon City will listen carefully and reflect them in policies as much as possible.”
Gu Ja-cheon, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce, said, “Since the Changwon Economic Council was formed with the awareness that our businesspeople are a regional community sharing growth and sharing, we will do our best to contribute to regional economic development through the council.”
