Meeting with the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations (NCAFP) Delegation on the Morning of the 8th
Vision for the ROK-U.S. Alliance as a Global Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] On the 8th, Foreign Minister Park Jin met with the delegation of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), which is visiting Korea, and discussed mutual interests such as the Korea-US alliance and North Korea issues.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the NCAFP delegation, a bipartisan think tank specializing in diplomatic and security issues, is visiting Korea as part of its annual East Asia regional tour.
Minister Park evaluated, "The Korea-US alliance, which began as a military alliance, has been a key pillar for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the region for 70 years, and under the 'Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance' vision agreed upon by the Korea-US leaders last May, the scope of cooperation is expanding."
He also requested the NCAFP delegation to take an interest in and support the evolution and development of the Korea-US alliance.
In response, the delegation promised to continue actively supporting the development of Korea-US relations and the enhancement of mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The delegation included Susan Elliott, Chairperson; Daniel Russell, Vice President of the Asia Society Policy Institute; Raymond Burghardt, Chair of the Pacific Century Institute (PCI); Susan Thornton, Director of the NCAFP Asia-Pacific Security Forum; Allison Hooker, Senior Vice President of American Global Strategy (AGS); and Juliet Lee, Deputy Director of the NCAFP Asia-Pacific Security Forum.
