Three Representative Traditional Korean Music Ensembles of Jeonnam Hold Year-End Joint Performance

Year-End Joint Performance 'Jiho-rak' on the 14th at Muan Namdo Sori Ullimter Performance Hall

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Three representative traditional Korean music groups from Jeonnam will come together for a year-end joint performance.

The Jeonnam Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra announced on the 8th that, together with the National Namdo Gugak Center and the Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe, they will hold the 2022 year-end joint performance "Jiho-rak" at 7:30 PM on the 14th at the Namdo Sori Ullimteo Performance Hall in Muan County, Jeonnam.

Marking its 9th year, this joint performance, under the theme "Here, Today's Namdo Gugak Festival Flowing Deeply in Our Bodies," will showcase the essence of Namdo arts cultivated by the three groups through pieces such as the dance and music purification ritual "Cheongung," the royal court dance "Cheoyongmu," and the creative dance drama "Suicide of Memory, Resurrection of Hope."

Ryu Hyung-seon, artistic director of the Jeonnam Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra and organizer of the performance, said, "Knowing is not as good as liking, and liking is not as good as enjoying?The title Jiho-rak (知好樂) seemed to be an appropriate phrase to encapsulate and measure the lives of all the artists gathered here, so we chose it." He added, "As the year comes to an end, I hope the essence of 'Jiho-rak' created by Jeonnam's traditional artists will be a rich performance like a feast."

Meanwhile, all audience members attending this year-end joint performance will receive a "2023 Pansori Calendar" containing recorded music as a viewing event, and on the 24th, a traditional music carol concert titled "Magutgan-euro Gase" will be held.
