Sacheon-si Selected as an Excellent Institution in This Year's Forest Road Project Evaluation Sacheon City Hall, Gyeongnam.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it was selected as an excellent city in the ‘2022 Forest Road Project Evaluation’ conducted by Gyeongsangnam-do.

According to the city, the Gyeongsangnam-do Forest Management Department conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the ‘2022 Forest Road Project’ carried out in 18 cities and counties within the province from November 23 to 27 over five days.

The forest road project evaluation committee, composed of experts such as university professors, forest engineering technicians, and environmental organizations, conducted the evaluation through a first round of document screening and a second round of on-site investigation.

The evaluation targets were the 1.2 km section of the main forest road in Gamgok-ri, Jeongdong-myeon, and a total of 6.5 km of working forest roads implemented annually since 2020 for sustainable forest resource circulation management.

These sites received high scores in the field evaluation for the appropriateness of route selection, disaster stability, budget execution performance, safety of road surface and slopes, and environmental friendliness. They were also recognized for establishing an eco-friendly green forest road.

Forest roads serve as important infrastructure for forest management and are used for multiple purposes such as forest tending, wildfire prevention activities, pest control, improving transportation convenience by connecting villages, and regional development infrastructure.

Mayor Park Dong-sik said, “The good results were achieved thanks to the staff who actively worked to establish forest roads that can protect forests in an eco-friendly and efficient manner,” and added, “We will do our best to develop multifunctional forest roads that are environmentally progressive.”
