[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KleanNara received the Excellence Award at the '2022 Discrimination-Free Workplace Best Practices Presentation' hosted by the Labor-Management Development Foundation under the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 6th.

KleanNara was recognized for its achievements in improving employment discrimination against dispatched and fixed-term workers, as well as reducing gender-based hiring discrimination. In June, KleanNara conducted organizational culture improvement consulting to create a discrimination-free workplace, and based on the diagnostic results, established detailed guidelines for 'reducing discrimination' and 'expanding equal opportunities.'

Efforts to reduce discrimination included consistently addressing ▲welfare benefit discrimination ▲discrimination against non-regular workers ▲wage discrimination ▲conversion to regular employment. To expand equal opportunities, they implemented ▲increased accessibility to welfare standards ▲expanded communication opportunities between management and employees ▲increased learning opportunities through senior employees ▲breaking down barriers to communication ▲expanded learning opportunities for new employees (ROC).

The rank system was simplified, significantly reducing discriminatory elements. The existing seven-level rank system was streamlined into three levels: employee, senior, and manager. Simplifying ranks according to roles enabled faster growth based on ability and clarified rewards based on performance.

The proportion of female workers steadily increased, with this year's female workforce ratio rising by 8% compared to 2018. Additionally, the same starting salary and pay system were applied regardless of gender for each rank. Efforts to reduce discrimination within the organization included ▲increased accessibility to welfare standards ▲production and distribution of maternity protection system guides ▲implementation of grievance management systems.

A KleanNara official stated, "To create a discrimination-free workplace, we conduct in-house labor consulting and regularly monitor personnel systems and regulations to minimize discrimination risks," adding, "We will continue to closely examine potential internal discrimination factors and create a workplace without 'discrimination blind spots.'"
