[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct face-to-face inspections of high-risk groups for child abuse by the end of this month.

On the 7th, Suwon City announced that by December 30, it will form a joint inspection team with related organizations responding to child abuse, including the Suwon City Child Protection Team and representatives from the Southern, Central, and Western Suwon Child Protection Agencies, to conduct face-to-face inspections targeting high-risk groups for child abuse.

The main inspection targets are ▲ children who have been repeatedly reported for child abuse in the past year ▲ children with investigation records or those who returned to their original families after being separated for protection ▲ children under case management who require inspection.

The city will, in principle, conduct home visits and direct face-to-face meetings to check the child's physical and psychological condition and living environment, and inspect for re-abuse (physical/emotional abuse, neglect). In addition, statements will be taken separately from the abuser and the child.

In particular, if the city determines that there is a risk of re-abuse and that the child needs protection (separation), it will take measures such as ▲ emergency action ▲ urgent temporary measures ▲ immediate separation ▲ referral for investigation. It will also connect follow-up support such as transfer to protection facilities or medical institutions and case management.

A city official said, "We will collaborate with the police and child protection agencies to promptly protect children at high risk of abuse once they are identified," adding, "We will establish a proactive response system for child protection and create a child-friendly city, Suwon."
