[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] The authorities announced on the 6th that a highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) outbreak was confirmed at a meat duck farm located in Naju-si, Jeollanam-do.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Highly Pathogenic AI confirmed the AI (H5N1 type) antigen at the farm the previous day and deployed an initial response team. Quarantine measures such as access control, culling, and epidemiological investigation were carried out.

Since last month, the total number of confirmed cases of highly pathogenic AI in poultry farms and ordinary households has increased to 34. Of the 7 confirmed cases this month, 6 occurred at poultry farms in the Jeollanam-do region.
