Wando Residents Present 'Appreciation Plaque' to Officials Promoting Yeondogyo Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Lee Cheol, Chairman of the Economic Tourism and Culture Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Wando 1), announced on the 6th that he presented plaques of appreciation to Lee Sang-hoon, former Director of Construction and Transportation of Jeonnam Province, and Jeong Yoon-soo, Director of the Road Traffic Division, at the provincial council.

This presentation of plaques of appreciation was made to express the gratitude of local residents who highly valued their contributions to the designation of Local Road No. 806, a long-standing project in Wando, and the construction of the Yeondo Bridge connecting Soando and Gudo in Wando.

Local Road No. 806, which was promoted to a local road in February this year, is a 25.7 km section connecting Songji-myeon in Haenam to Nohwa-eup and Soan-myeon in Wando.

With its promotion to a statutory road enabling budget allocation, the construction project of the Yeondo Bridge between Soando and Gudo has gained momentum, and Jeonnam Province and Wando County plan to invest a total budget of 140 billion KRW, with 70 billion KRW each.

Chairman Lee said, “Due to Wando’s regional characteristics, residents have always wished for the construction of land and sea bridges as there are many inconveniences in transportation, medical care, and education compared to the mainland,” adding, “It was thanks to the special efforts of Director Lee Sang-hoon and Director Jeong Yoon-soo that the residents’ long-standing wishes could be fulfilled.”
