Gwangju Dong-gu Successfully Concludes the 4th National Youth Startup Idea Competition

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that the prospective young entrepreneur team "Pairingkeu Team" won the grand prize at the "4th Gwangju Metropolitan City Dong-gu Mayor's Cup National Youth Startup Idea Competition" held on the 4th.


Now in its 4th year, this competition featured 35 teams nationwide, including high school students, university students, and startup youths aged 15 to 39, showcasing a variety of ideas ranging from lifestyle-oriented items to real-time platforms.


After the final evaluation by professional judges, a total of 8 teams were selected as awardees. The grand prize winner, Pairingkeu Team (CEO Kim Jun-yong), took the award with their "Heavy Equipment Dispatch Platform that solves everything from dispatch to paperwork with one click," receiving the Dong-gu Mayor's Award and a prize money of 2 million won.


The Excellence Award went to the Crystal Team from Myeongjin High School (representative Park Su-jeong) for their "Automatic Danger Level Guidance Gaze Inducing Stick," and the Special Award, sponsored with a prize of 500,000 won by the Gwangju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (Director Ha Sang-yong), was awarded to the prospective young entrepreneur Fitview (CEO Shin Tae-jung) for their "AI-based Fitness (Gym Wear) Shopping Platform for Health Enthusiasts."


Dong-gu accepted applications for youth startup ideas under the theme "Find Startup Ideas to Pioneer the Global Market!" until the 11th of last month. Before the final judging, a mentoring workshop was held to help each team supplement and develop their planned startup ideas, aiming to improve the quality of the outcomes.


Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "I hope the creative items selected in this competition will become a driving force for the growth of the Republic of Korea," and added, "We will continue to lead the implementation of various youth policies and the creation of youth infrastructure so that our Dong-gu can become a city where young entrepreneurs want to come."
