[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] BTS member Jin (30, Kim Seokjin) will enlist on the 13th.
On the 6th, agency Big Hit Music announced through the fan community, "BTS's Jin will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the army to fulfill his military service obligation." They added, "The recruit training center entrance ceremony is an event attended by many soldiers and their families," and "there will be no separate official event on the day of enlistment."
They also requested, "To prevent safety accidents caused by crowd congestion, fans are asked to refrain from visiting the site. Please send your warm farewell and encouragement to Jin in your hearts."
The agency further warned, "Please be cautious not to suffer damages from unauthorized use of the artist's IP (intellectual property), such as various tour package products," and stated, "We plan to take separate measures against commercial activities that use it without permission."
According to the industry, Jin is scheduled to enlist on the 13th at the army division recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, and after completing five weeks of training, he will be assigned to his unit. Born in 1992 and currently 30 years old, Jin had his enlistment postponed until the end of this year based on a recommendation for deferment by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the revised Military Service Act of 2020.
On the 30th of last month, at the 'MAMA Awards' held in Osaka, Japan, Jin greeted fans through a phone call with BTS member J-Hope, saying, "Although we won't be able to see each other officially for a while, I will come back with good music. I will serve well in the military."
