Jindo-gun to Host National Freshwater Fishing Competition on the 10th

Experience the Thrill of Fishing and Take Home Eco-Friendly Rice

[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Namjoong] The Jeollanam-do Fishing Association President's National Freshwater Fishing Competition will be held in the 'Treasure Island' Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do.

On the 10th (Saturday), the national freshwater fishing competition will be held around the Angmuri waterway in Jisan-myeon, a representative 'eco-friendly black rice agricultural production area' of the region.

This competition is hosted by the Jeonnam Fishing Association and organized by the Jindo-gun Fishing Association, with support from Jeonnam Province, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do Sports Council, and Jindo-gun Sports Council.

The fishing methods are bottom fishing and drop fishing. Seat assignments will be conducted by lottery, and the target species is crucian carp over 15 cm, with awards based on length (cm) as the principle. However, a 5 cm penalty will be applied when measuring the ricefish.

The awards include 5 million KRW and a certificate and trophy for 1st place, 2 million KRW for 2nd place, and 500,000 KRW for 3rd place. High-quality local specialties will be given to those placing 6th to 10th.

In addition, various lucky prizes such as the Nature Protection Award, Senior Award, Couple Award, and Long-distance Award will be given, and all participants will receive eco-friendly rice (10kg) and a lunch box free of charge.

Especially, premium local specialties such as the Natural Monument No. 53 Jindo Dog and Jindo turmeric are abundantly prepared, and 10% of the prize money will be donated to the Jindo-gun Talent Development Scholarship Fund.

Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis up to 200 people, and inquiries and registration can be made at fishing stores within Jindo-gun.

The Jindo-gun Fishing Association stated, "We plan to actively support the establishment of a healthy and safe fishing culture and the revitalization of freshwater fishing through this competition."
