[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit will take charge of investigating the complaint against the YouTube media outlet 'Simin Eonron The Tam-sa,' which came all the way to the apartment door where Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon resides.
On the 6th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that the case concerning the alleged joint residential intrusion at the residence of the Minister of Justice, currently under investigation by the Suseo Police Station, will be investigated by the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The police explained, "Some of the suspects are already under investigation at other police stations for the same charges, and considering the social interest in this case, we decided to consolidate the investigations."
Earlier, five reporters from The Tam-sa visited a mixed-use apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where Minister Han resides, on the 27th of last month. They shouted several times in front of the apartment door, asking, "Is Minister Han there?" and "We are here from The Tam-sa to cover a story." They also attempted to open the door lock and examined packages delivered to the residence. Minister Han filed a police complaint against them for joint residential intrusion and retaliatory crime charges.
The Tam-sa is a media outlet that raised suspicions that Minister Han had a drinking party with President Yoon Seok-yeol and lawyers from Kim & Chang at a bar in Cheongdam-dong. However, recently, cellist A, who had raised the suspicions, testified during police questioning that it was "a lie," revealing the allegations to be unfounded. The media outlet has also been under police investigation after being accused of following Minister Han's car on his way home from work.
