Samsung Display Promotes 8 Vice Presidents Based on Performance Regardless of Years of Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] Samsung Display has conducted a bold promotion of individuals who demonstrate performance and growth potential regardless of their years of service. Those who contributed to strengthening dominance in the display market and securing future growth engines amid uncertain management environments were promoted to vice president.

On the 6th, Samsung Display announced that it carried out the '2023 Regular Executive Personnel Appointment' involving a total of 27 people, including 8 vice presidents, 16 senior managers, and 3 masters. Kim Seongbong, head of the Technology Innovation Team in the Large Display Business Division, who was promoted to vice president, contributed to maximizing productivity through improvements in key QD-OLED processes and was recognized for timely completion of extended LCD production and line dismantling. Yoo Kyungjin, head of the PE Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, was evaluated for contributing to the timely launch and stable mass production of key strategic products through pre-verification of mass production feasibility for new products applying new technologies.

Lee Jaehyung, head of the SDT Corporation in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who contributed to stable mass production of new products such as tablets and improved overall equipment efficiency to expand corporate productivity, was also on the list of promotees. Park Junyoung, head of the EVEN Technology Team in the Large Display Business Division, contributed to establishing a mass production base by stabilizing the QD-OLED deposition process and securing yield in large-area high-resolution deposition processes. Kim Seonghan, head of the Materials Research Team at the Display Research Institute, was promoted for contributing to securing ultra-gap technological leadership and product competitiveness through next-generation light-emitting material performance improvement and development of functional component panel embedding technology. Kim Daeyong, head of the Audit Team, who improved operational efficiency and strengthened business structure by addressing various process inefficiencies through on-site issue-centered management diagnosis, was also promoted.

In this personnel appointment, Samsung Display produced young leaders such as vice presidents in their 40s and senior managers in their 30s through the Samsung-style 'Fast Track' that enables early development of young executives. Representative young leaders who went through the Fast Track include Cho Seongho, head of the A Development Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division; Son Dongil, head of the YE Team in the Large Display Business Division; and Lee Jeongsu, senior manager of the B/P Development Group in the Small and Medium Display Business Division.

The trend of selecting outstanding female talent for four consecutive years was also maintained. Im Jahyun, senior manager of the Materials Development 1 Group in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, is a representative example. She is recognized as an expert in light-emitting material development and has contributed to enhancing material performance and product competitiveness through new material development. Samsung Display has completed executive personnel appointments through the '2023 Regular Executive Personnel Appointment' and plans to conduct organizational restructuring and position appointments soon.
