[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] XR-based metaverse tech company Skonec Entertainment announced on the 6th that it has signed a development and supply contract for an FPS VR game with the global big tech company Meta. Through this contract, Skonec plans to expand the VR game ecosystem by combining Skonec's virtual reality (VR) content development technology with Meta's platform-based global competitiveness.
Through the supply contract, Skonec and Meta are known to jointly invest resources in VR game development.
Hwang Dae-sil, CEO of Skonec, said, "The contract with Meta is a recognition of Skonec's development capabilities and content in the global market," adding, "Skonec will lead the rapidly growing global VR game content market."
He continued, "We will expand the VR game content development pipeline by collaborating with numerous VR game developers both domestically and overseas," and "We plan to actively target the B2C market for overseas game users."
Skonec had been independently developing VR games. With the signing of the supply contract with Meta, changes and expansions to the future VR game release roadmap have become inevitable. The VR game contracted with Meta is currently under development, aiming for release in the first quarter of 2024.
