Jaguar Unveils the World's Best Pure Electric Racing Car 'Jaguar I-TYPE 6'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Jaguar Land Rover Korea announced on the 6th that Jaguar TCS Racing unveiled the Jaguar I-TYPE 6, designed for next year's ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The Jaguar I-TYPE 6 is Jaguar's most advanced and efficient pure electric racing car to date. It is the first FIA Formula E racing car equipped with powertrains at both the front and rear, featuring a 250kW powertrain at the front and a 350kW powertrain at the rear. This doubles the energy regeneration capability compared to the existing Gen2 model, eliminating the need for traditional rear brakes.

The Gen3 era of Formula E, kicking off in January next year, is expected to deliver faster and more exciting races on city circuits worldwide. The third-generation Jaguar Formula E racing car, equipped with cutting-edge new technology, offers a body weight reduced by 50 kg compared to the previous generation, an increased maximum output by 100 kW, and a top speed of approximately 322 km/h, setting a new performance benchmark.

Jaguar TCS Racing team will start the next season with a new and unique identity. The Jaguar I-TYPE 6 livery, featuring an attractive color scheme of Carbon Black, Satin White, and sleek Gold accents with an asymmetrical design, completes two special racing cars for drivers Mitch Evans and Sam Bird. The Jaguar TCS Racing team is expected to benefit from consistency by maintaining the same driver lineup for all three seasons, which is rare in Formula E.

This season marks the first time Jaguar provides its successful powertrain technology to fellow British team Envision Racing, allowing fans to see four racing cars powered by Jaguar’s cutting-edge powertrain on the track.

Jaguar TCS Racing team is fully preparing for Season 9, which will start with the opening race in Mexico City on January 14 and will be held over 17 rounds in 12 cities. Building on last season’s excellent results, including Mitch Evans finishing second as a driver and earning the highest points, the team is ready to race again toward the 2023 World Championship title.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing team principal, said, “Formula E Season 9 will be more intense and thrilling than ever with the all-new pure electric racing car, the I-TYPE 6. Last season, our team achieved the best results in history, but we know we can do better. I am confident in the strong strengths of the I-TYPE 6 and Jaguar TCS Racing team, so I look forward to the results of this season.”
