[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol encouraged the South Korean national soccer team, which lost to Brazil in the Round of 16 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on the 6th, saying, "To all the players who did their best despite injuries, you really worked hard."

President Yoon stated in a Facebook message posted immediately after the Round of 16 match against Brazil that day, "To Captain Son Heung-min and all 26 players, as well as Coach Paulo Bento and the coaching staff, thank you very much for your hard work."

He continued, "The drama you showed in this World Cup made the hearts of all the people beat as one," and comforted them by saying, "Now, there is no barrier that Korean soccer cannot overcome."

He also said, "Our challenge will continue," and added, "I will also dream of a wonderful four years ahead with all the people of the Republic of Korea with a happy heart."

When the team advanced to the Round of 16 on the 3rd, President Yoon also sent a congratulatory message saying, "Unleash the potential you have prepared so far. Enjoy the game," and "As you have done so far, I hope you will show the world the possibilities of Korean soccer beyond winning and losing."

Led by Coach Paulo Bento, the team conceded four goals in the first half and fell behind in the Round of 16 match against Brazil held at the 974 Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Although Baek Seung-ho (Jeonbuk) scored a consolation goal in the second half, they ultimately lost 1-4.
